What Does a Practitioner Website Actually Cost in 2026?

By Braden Urquhart7/30/2026

Ask "what does a website cost" and you will get answers ranging from $16 a month to $15,000 up front. Both are technically true and both are misleading, because for a working practice the website is never the whole bill. The real question is: what does the complete system cost, the one that actually gets you patients?

This post breaks down the true 2026 numbers three ways: the website alone, the full tool stack practitioners actually end up running, and the all-in-one alternative. Real prices throughout, including ours.

What does the website alone cost?

Four common routes:

  • DIY builders (Wix, Squarespace): roughly $16 to $50 per month. Cheap entry, but you get a brochure: no practice booking, no email automation, no funnels, and you will bolt those on later (see the stack below).
  • WordPress: $10 to $40 per month in hosting, plus themes and plugins, plus the hidden cost: maintenance. Updates, plugin conflicts, security, and the developer you call when it breaks.
  • Custom design agency: $3,000 to $15,000 up front, plus hosting and a retainer for changes. Beautiful, and every future edit has an invoice attached.
  • Niche practitioner agencies: $99 to $149 per month for a designed site in your specialty, marketing tools not included.

Any of these can produce a good-looking website. None of them answers the question that matters, because a website without the system around it is a business card.

What is the real stack a practice ends up paying for?

Here is the part most cost articles skip. Within a year or two, a growing practice bolts on some or all of the following. These are standard 2026 prices for the tiers a real practice needs (entry tiers are usually crippled by contact limits or feature gates):

Tool What practitioners typically use Monthly cost
Email marketing Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, ConvertKit $20 to $150
Automation glue Zapier or Make (connecting the tools to each other) $20 to $75
Funnel software ClickFunnels, Kartra, Leadpages $37 to $97+
Quiz and form software Typeform, Interact, Jotform $25 to $99
Online booking Calendly, Acuity $10 to $20
Course platform Kajabi, Teachable, Thinkific $39 to $199+
Popups and lead capture OptinMonster and similar $16 to $49
Social scheduling Buffer, Later $15 to $49
SEO tools or rank tracking entry tiers of the major suites $99 to $139
AI-visibility tracking the new category: does ChatGPT mention you $50 to $100+

Add it up. A modest stack (email + booking + one form tool + a scheduler) runs $70 to $150 per month on top of the website. A practice that sells a course and runs funnels easily reaches $300 to $700 per month, before the agency retainer, and before the tax nobody itemizes: five to ten logins, integrations that silently break, and the hours you spend being your own IT department. Zapier deserves special mention here: it exists purely because the other tools do not talk to each other. It is a monthly fee for glue.

The full tool-by-tool breakdown is in 10 Tools You're Paying For Separately.

What does the all-in-one route cost?

The comparison set, with honest numbers:

  • GoHighLevel: $297 to $497 per month, plus metered email/phone costs. Powerful, agency-first; see our comparison and the alternatives guide.
  • Kajabi: $149 to $399 per month, courses-first; the practice side (booking, local SEO) is not its lane. Comparison.
  • HubSpot: free tier exists, but the features practices actually want climb into hundreds per month fast. Comparison.
  • Hiveality: $99 to $269 per month on yearly billing ($129 to $349 monthly). Every plan includes the entire table above: email marketing (10,000 to 250,000 sends per month by plan), flows replacing the Zapier glue, funnels, forms and quizzes, booking with reminders, courses and community, popups, social scheduling in Marketing Studio, automatic SEO upkeep with rank and AI-visibility tracking, and Agent Bee doing the building and writing. Yearly plans also include a free migration from your current setup, valued at $2,500.

So what should your budget be?

Three honest scenarios:

Scenario 1: Solo practitioner, appointments only. DIY route: ~$30 website + $70 to $150 stack = $100 to $180/mo across 4 to 6 tools. Hiveality Starter: $99/mo yearly, one login, 1,000 contacts, booking, email, and 5 funnels included.

Scenario 2: Established practice with a lead magnet, email list, and paid ads. Stack route: $30 to $150 website + $200 to $400 in tools + often an agency retainer = $400 to $900/mo. Hiveality Builder: $179/mo yearly, 5,000 contacts, 50,000 email sends, 20 funnels.

Scenario 3: Clinic or practitioner selling courses and programs. Stack route: website + Kajabi + email + funnels + booking + the rest = $500 to $1,000+/mo. Hiveality Pro: $269/mo yearly, 25,000 contacts, 250,000 sends, unlimited funnels, 3 websites.

The pattern is not subtle: consolidation saves roughly half to two-thirds of the monthly bill, and the non-monetary savings (one system, automations that just work, no integration debugging) are what practitioners mention most after switching.

Want to run your own numbers on the revenue side too? The patient value calculator in our Google Ads guide computes what a new patient is worth, which is the number your website budget should actually be compared against.

Frequently asked questions

Is a $16/month website ever the right call? Yes: if you are pre-launch, testing a practice idea, and need a placeholder with your name and contact info. The moment you want the site to produce patients, the stack math above takes over.

What about the one-time custom design option? A $5,000 to $15,000 custom build can be right for a multi-location brand with specific needs. Just budget for what it does not include: every tool in the table, plus a developer relationship for changes. Many practices pair worse: custom site AND full stack.

Are there hidden costs with Hiveality? The plan is the bill for the tools listed. Plans differ by capacity (contacts, sends, funnels, websites, team members), and optional add-ons exist for extra capacity: for example, additional contacts start around $270 CAD/year for 1,000, and an extra website is $690 CAD/year. Domains are the usual ~$15 to $20/year at any registrar. Full details on the pricing page.

What does switching cost? On yearly plans, nothing: migration from your existing website and tools is included, valued at $2,500. You keep your old subscriptions running until you have verified everything moved, then cancel them.

Cheapest way to start today? Pick the plan that fits your contact count on the pricing page, start from a template so pages, funnels, and emails arrive pre-built, and let the included tools replace subscriptions one renewal at a time.
