Managing communities

Organize community spaces, About pages, and community events.

Community list layout

The Communities page shows each community as a card with:

  • Cover image (or “No image” when empty).
  • Visibility pill: Public, Private, or Unlisted.
  • Member count badge.
  • Preview button to open the live community page.

Edit community details

1

Open the menu

Use the ••• menu on a community card.

2

Choose Edit details

Update branding, description, About-page content, visibility, join approval, and member posting.

3

Save

Select Update Community.

Private communities always require approval to join. For public or unlisted communities, use Require approval to join to choose between immediate joining and join requests. Use Allow member posts to control whether members can create feed posts.

The About page section can welcome members, explain how to participate, list community rules, and provide up to 20 labeled resource links. Blank sections do not appear on the public community page.

Use Search and sharing to set an optional search title and description. Leave them blank to reuse the community name and short description. Private and unlisted communities stay out of search results and use a generic link preview.

The About settings can also show selected website policy links below the community sidebar. Set up the policy page in Website Settings first, then turn on the corresponding Privacy, Terms, Refund, Disclaimer, or Cookie link for the community.

Manage events from a community

Community moderators can open the Events tab to create and edit events connected to that community. Use the filter to review

Upcoming, Past Events, Drafts , or Recurring series.

The community editor covers the event title, description, date and time, timezone, location, capacity, visibility, registration choice, and publication status. Website administrators can choose Advanced event settings for recurring schedules, tickets, webinar setup, registration details, and attendee messages, then return to the community.

Quick edits preserve settings that live in the advanced editor. A recurring series appears separately from its individual upcoming and past dates so you can edit the intended item.

Preview a community

Select Preview on any community card to open the public view in a new page.

Delete a community

1

Open the menu

Use the ••• menu on a community card.

2

Choose Delete

Confirm the Delete community? prompt.

Deleting a community is permanent and cannot be undone.
