Course Access

Course Visibility

Choose who can access the course:

• Public - Anyone can view
• Community - Only community members
• Premium - Paid access only
• Private - Invitation only

New courses start with member-safe access: free sign-in is required and Free Preview is off until you deliberately change those settings.

Require free sign-in to continue

For a Public course, turn on Require free sign-in to continue when visitors may start from the public course link but must sign in or create a free account before continuing. This enables progress, completion, notes, quizzes, and enrollment-based drip timing.

Free Preview

Choose how non-buyers can view lessons marked

Free preview lesson:

• Off: only people with full course access can open lessons.
• Public: anyone can open the selected preview lessons.
• Members only: visitors must sign in before opening preview lessons.

If preview is on and no lesson is marked yet, the first published lesson is used only when the course has more than one visible lesson. A one-lesson course does not become a free preview by accident. Use Test preview before sharing the course link.

For paid courses, use Premium, mark only the lessons you want to sample, and connect a Sell Access product so locked lessons can show the

Buy full course action.

Communities (where this course appears)

Use the multi-select picker to choose which communities show the course in their Courses tab.

• Click the field to open the list.
• Use Search communities... to filter.
• Select multiple communities.
• Remove a community by clicking the × next to its pill.

This also controls which communities appear in the lesson Discuss picker.

Published catalog behavior

• Courses assigned only to private communities stay out of the public published catalog.
• If a course is assigned to both public and private communities, visitors only see the public communities on the course card.
• Signed-in members still see courses tied to communities they belong to when browsing the combined catalog view.
• If you want a course to stay visible to all visitors, leave it unassigned or attach it to at least one public community.

Access Control

Sequential Completion

Turn on Sequential Completion to force lessons to be completed in order.

Minimum Completion Percentage

Set a Minimum Completion Percentage (50–100%) to mark a course as complete.

Completion Certificate

Enable Completion Certificate to award a certificate when students finish the course.
