SMS Step
Send a text message at this step.
What this step does
An SMS step sends a text message to the contact when they reach this step in the flow.
How to use it (recommended)
1
Add an SMS step
Add an SMS step where you want the message to send.
2
Choose the message
Select the SMS program the contact agreed to, choose a ready sender for the same business identity, then write the message.
3
Test with one contact
Trigger the flow once and confirm the message sends.
When to use it
- Appointment reminders
- Short follow-ups
- Time-sensitive alerts
Tips
- Keep messages concise.
- Review the final policy preview and segment count. Shorten the message or explicitly allow multiple segments when the final text needs more than one.
- A contact must have valid permission for the selected program and no active opt-out or do-not-contact block. The sender must also be active and ready.
- If consent, suppression, phone, or sender checks fail, the step safely skips that recipient rather than sending from an unready path.
- Test with a single contact before turning the flow on.
For timed reminders, pair this with Wait Until. Use the Twilio guide for setup and sender checks. To collect permission on a published page, see the
